Four stars

Budapest Hotel

Web info: Hotel Budapest is a new four star hotel located in the centre of the town, in a park zone near the lake. Very quiet and beautiful area at the same time close to all administrative buildings, embassies, diplomatic missions and international representations, is perfect four your business and leisure.

Flowers Hotel

Web info: The Hotel is located in the very heart of the capital, in the centre of business and financial activity of the city. The Flowers Hotel has 40 rooms for the most exigent visitors, offering maximum comfort for their stay in Chisinau. They are all provided with perfect wooden classic style furniture and equipped with satellite TV, international and interurban telephones. The rooms have wide screen TV sets, air conditioners, mini-bars. Bathrooms are provided with hair-dryers and electronic balances. At your disposal also are the chemical laundry and the round-the-clock room service. The hotel offers a wide range of services for business people: e-mail, Internet, document copy services, fax, translation services, booking of air and railway tickets, taxi.

Leif’s take: This 40-room boutique hotel has been taken over by the Best Western hotel chain in recent years. Enormous wi-fi and mini-bar equipped rooms with high ceilings are exquisitely decorated with tasteful restraint, incorporating paintings by local artists and, of course, a small jungle’s worth of plants and flowers.

Three stars

Jazz Hotel

Web info: The Jazz Hotel is a comfortable city center hotel with friendly staff providing efficient service.
Guest rooms are well equipped to provide the basic needs and the feeling of at home. The 21 clean, comfortable rooms (5-Suite, 4-Double, 10-Single Standard, 2-Single Economy) will ensure that your stay is enjoyable as well as affordable. All of the rooms are decorated in a tasteful, modern style.

Leif’s take: Professionally run, very clean and a generous breakfast. However, people who don’t like very firm beds should look elsewhere.

Villa Muntenia

Web info: Hotel “Villa Muntenia” is ideal for business travel and pleasure travel too. With a modern architecture, with a fair balance between technology, comfort and decor, the hotel “Villa Muntenia” may be as a second home for all customers that pass its threshold. Qualified staff will please you by professionalism and courtesy, the hotel is basing on quality services and modern facilities. The hotel capacity is 11 rooms, a restaurant with a capacity of 120 seats, a lobby bar, 2 conference rooms; and for a full comfort to our clients and quality services are 2 Finnish saunas with 2 rest rooms, also the free parking.

Leif’s take: This is a brand new place that I haven’t yet visited. It appears to be a solid three star option, about 20 minutes walk from B-dul Stefan cel Mare. They cater to business people and those looking for better than average Chisinau comfort without having to resort to the ludicrously priced hotels in the center.

Two star, one star and below

Lots and lots of people are renting out spare rooms and apartments around town these days. For the full spectrum, use the search box below.

TapOK

Leif’s take: Opened in 2013 by three friends who returned from traveling the world and decided to open a hostel. Included in the price is wi-fi, sheets and towels, coffee and tea, “snacks,” and use of the self-cater kitchen. Laundry is 2 euros per load. No breakfast. There are dorm rooms that sleep four, six and eight people, but no private rooms. Due to its enviable central location, it fills up quickly. Reserve in advance in high season or risk sleeping on their couch. The hostel entrance is in a courtyard off the street. Look for the smallish international hosteling logo (bunk beds) on the gate and walk to the far corner of the courtyard where a door will have the same logo.

Chisinau Hostel

Leif’s take: It’s not particularly central, but this is a friendly place with good facilities about a 25 minute walk from the center, behind the enormous, red “Malldova” shopping center. It’s well-run place, though echoing hallways means challenging sleep for those who like to retire early. There are free lockers, free breakfast, free wi-fi, shared kitchen, Wii, laundry facilities (2 euros per load), and tours to wineries and Transdniestr. A number of maxitaxis and buses zoom by here coming from downtown. If you’re not sure, ask the driver to drop you at “Malldova”. A taxi ride will cost 30-40 lei. It’s a popular place in summer, so book ahead.

Marisha

Leif’s take: One of Chisinau’s first independent tourism oriented fixers – and a really nice person. She arranges apartments around the city, as well as countryside visits, tours and homestays in Tiraspol.

Svetlana’s

Web info: Only Double Rooms. Free cafe and tea all day. Free laundry (3 night). Free internet. We are only 15 minutes from the city centre.

Leif’s take: Not very central, but inexpensive.
